Any difference between HD and IPS screens?

They refer to different thing.

HD – 1024 x 600 resolution

IPS – In-Plane Switching is a type of LCD technology regardless of the actual resolution. IPS screens have wider viewing angles compare to screens using TN (Twisted Nematic) screens which costs less to manufacture. Again, the resolution does not matter.

Wider viewing angles means colors on a IPS screen distorts less / shifts less compared to a TN screen.

With regards to the resolution the higher the resolution the more desktop space there is so that you can view information on the screen. However, images and text will be smaller the higher the screen resolution is.
